Xmas Yo Ho Ho
02:22
|
|||
[1] choosing a winter holiday
a getaway with my husband
time to leave the cold weather behind
and get a little sun was the plan
[ch] some adventure on the high seas
a little water and a warming sun
romantic time when the air chills down
destination, having fun
[2] a pirate cruise with Captain Pete
yo ho ho, and parrrrty together
sunken treasure and pirate booty
swashbuckling pleasure
[3] raise the skull and crossbonesh igh
drink lots of rum and watch time fly
adopt yoour pirate pseudonym
walk the plank and go for a swim
[4] and when our cruise come to an end
we'll drop the sail and be home again
remembering times with the pirate crew
wishing each other a Merry Yo Ho Ho

Santa, Can You Spare A Dollar?
[Verse 1]
Out of the shadows a figure appeared
Worn ragged clothes and a scruffy grey beard
With a bit of a shuffle that made him look old.
He stayed close to the building to keep out cold
The wind chilled his bones and he shivered inside
He kept to himself as he looked to both sides
Always waiting for the best time to move
Not to get noticed, he had nothing to prove.
CHORUS
Santa, can you spare a few dollars ?
I'm out of work and I can’t feed my daughter
She's such a sweet girl, I don’t want to bother
but Santa, can you spare a few dollars ?
[Verse 2]
The boy by a window in a small room alone
His mother is working from dusk until dawn
He's watching the people, like a ballet
Handing out packages before Christmas Day
And the boy wonders is there something for me?
And my mom needs a new new coat, don’t you agree?
She's always so tired and she works oh so hard
And a new pair of boots if they could be spared.
Chorus
Santa, can you spare a few dollars ?
I'm cold and alone and I look at the shoppers
My mom said to stay inside our quarters
but Santa, can you spare a few dollars ?
[Verse 3]
And the day after Christmas, the streets are all bare
nobody out there , we're left with despair
We're here in the shadows, our troubles are deep
And where are the saviours, they've gone home this week
The shine has worn off, their charity's done
A final Merry Christmas to everyone.
Good deeds are a mile wide and an inch deep
Now Santas gone home, it's his time to sleep.

Christmas Jam
02:53
|
|||
This jam has all the warm flavors of Christmas!
Ingredients:
12 ounces of cranberries
2 quarts fresh strawberries
5 pounds sugar
2 packets of liquid fruit pectin (3 ounces each)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions:
Fill your water bath canner about half full,
Add a splash of white vinegar to your water - this will help keep your jars from getting cloudy,
Fill your jars with water and
Put your clean jelly jars in the canner.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat a bit, this will keep your jars and water hot while you make the jam.
Pulse the fruit in a food processor or a blender
Put fruit in a large pot - around 8 quart size.
Add sugar and spices.
Mix well.
Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute.
Remove from heat and add the fruit pectin.
Return to stove and bring to a boil, stir it all together.
Boil for 1 minute.
Take the jars out of the canner and empty the water out of the jars.
Fill jars with jam to 1/4 inch headspace.
Wipe rim of jar with a paper towel that has a bit of white vinegar on it to make sure your rim is very clean so you'll get a good seal.
Put on lid and ring/band and tighten it finger tight.
Put filled jars back in the water bath canner making sure the water covers the jars by at least an inch,
Bring water to a boil and boil for 10 minutes.
When the 10 minutes is up turn off the burner,
Let the jars sit in the water for another 5 minutes.
Remove jars from canner and put them on a clean towel and allow them to cool.
As they cool you'll hear the pinging letting you know the jars are sealing.
When the jars are cooled and sealed remove the rings/bands,
Wipe the jars clean,
Label the jars with content and date.
This gave me 12 half-pint jars.
Enjoy!!

The Gift of Leonard
03:24
|
|||
Just watching the stars up in the sky
Sitting back and enjoying this ride
In the still of the night, and you by my side
It's so nice to feel this satisfied
It's almost Christmas Day and this year is nearly done
Whereever we are, we can greet everyone
Wishing you clear skies and wide open eyes
As we look to the horizon of the southwestern skies.
There you will see the current three kings
Of all our observable planets
There's Venus Saturn and Jupiter
Along the horizon's bright canvas
That's such a festive gift, I would say
But there's a better one you're sure to see
A once in a lifetime sight to be remembered
Is the Comet C/21, Comet Leonard.
Leonard has been speeding towards our sun
For the last 40 thousand years
Traveling speed 50 miles per second
And finally Leonard has appeared
Leonard's trail has been closely monitored
since January when first observed
Entering our solar system's outer limits
And due to depart just after Christmas
Leonard's path is a perihelion
A narrow elliptical path
Right now, Leonard's in retrograde
Between Earth and the Sun, I'm afraid
You wont see the bright display of the comet's tail
As Leonard circles behind the sun
And on January 2, 2022
Leonard will leave our solar system and be gone
Leonard's tail might become less vibrant
as ice and dust burn off near the sun
and Leonard's path might change course
we will never know how, of course.
So we continue to sit and enjoy the starlight
A gift to all from the universe
And enjoy the expanse of the skies above us
Pondering the mysteries all around us.
