Ode to a Canadian Icon
Oh, it’s not complicated
It/s a Canadian dessert
The basic recipe is so ( simple.
Just don’t ask me for my secret recipe.
I won’t tell you.
I said it’s a secret.
Make a flaky pastry dough
Roll it out just so
And use a coffee mug to cut the circle
Slide the dough into the pan
Be careful not to stretch
Cause if you do, your tart will be too small.
Who likes small?
Well this Canadian pastry has a sweet filling, yum yum
Some butter, some sugar and an egg.
And then the special sauce
Well it really isn’t a sauce
Let’s call it what it is… it’s maple syrup.
OOhhh
Then bake it in the oven, until it’s ooeey gooey done
Take it out, let it cool before you eat it. It’s hot!
It’s a plain and simple dessert
But it smells like heaven
The pride of Canada
The butter tart.
It’s not a shoofly pie, or a bordertart
It’s not a sugar pie or a backwards pie
It is a butter tart, a Canadian treat
The pride of Canada
The butter tart. Yes it is
The pride of Canada
The butter tart.
Oh Butter Tart, we stand on guard for thee.

Dirty Laundry

Dirty Laundry
do i need these socks?
with the stripey tops.
cant find the mate
so i'll just compen sate
wear a pair
that dont match at all.
I'm not going out
ican do with out.
or just wear ggings
forever begging
no need to stress
i'll just re dress.
have you just ever looked at the last few loads
of laundry
and considered throwing them a way?
i was going to throw in the towel,
until i realized
i had too much durty laundry alrea dy.
my washer's a blackbox
so unorthodox
i put things in
give them a spin
i just forget
to take them out
how i measure success
must be addressed
theres a second phase
in my malaise
you have to put the laundry into the dryer
before mildew sets in

The Late Mr. Denny McMullen
Oh, here lies the late Mr. Denny Mc Mullen
He died mysteriously
He fell down dead, at the head of his bed
Falling precariously.
His wife found him there early next morning
She was sleeping in the other bed room
She went a searching for him before breakfast
What a shocking revelation, I assume
xx
Well after all the funeral proceedings were over
The Mrs. thought about her life ahead
Starting to plan her life without her Mr.
Filled her head with so much fear and dread,
So she decided to take a little holiday
Deciding how to carry on alone
Booked herself into a nice suite on an island
With a beautiful beach and ocean view.
xx
Now Mrs. McMullen is happy as a clam
Reclining on the beach lounge chair
Sipping lovely drinks with little pink umbrellas
And watching all the sunbathers pass there
The men give her a wink and she's pleased as punch
She's free to enjoy what they extend
Mrs. Mc Mullen is no longer on the shelf
A holiday with surprise dividends.
xx
So back home again, Mrs. Mc Mullen
Has a new appreciation for her life
No longer a housewife, she can explore new options
And reflect on the Mr.'s after life
And reflect on her own after life.

Bones

Bones
[Verse 1]
Bones is a fictional character
Portrayed by Emily Deschenel
She is a forensic anthropologist
And her TV show was monumental
But fiction is fiction and fact is fact
And facts here are better than fiction.
The living inspiration for TV Bones
Is a woman of great dis tinction.
Kathy Reichs studied anthropology
at Northwestern University,
Got her PhD. and became a professor
then wrote many papers and books. (She's very clever)
She was called by medical examiners
To consult on cases around the world
To help sort out who was buried there
She's still a real live working girl.
She started writing fiction in '97
Her main character was Temperance Brennan
The stories were based on real life science
Intelligence was her only weapon.
Kathy made sure to get the science right
What she described in her books ,she really did in real life
She made science knowledge essential
And solved the mysteries of the dead people .
She made science knowledge essential
And solved the mysteries of the dead people

Nancy Drew Song

My favourite story as a girl.
lyrics
Have You Heard What’s New ?
G riff
Nana, nana, nana, nana, nana Nancy
Nana, nana, nana, nana, nana Nancy.
Nana, Nana, Nana, Nana, nana Nancy Drew.
Who would think she 90 years old? She has no date of expiry.
She’s still as sweet as Betty Crocker And as cool as Mata Hari
Cruising around with seniors there
On her powder blue, jazzy, select wheelchair.
There is no mystery. She has a good pedigree.
Couldn’t pull the wool over her eyes. She always keeps them on the prize.
She always was a sleuth that is the honest truth.
And an all around girl to be be around.
Nana, nana, nana, nana, nana Nancy
She’s always so well dressed Has a scarf to match each vest.
She has a sewing machine And she always looks so refined.
She has something chic She’s always unique
When she’s on the trail when the police are blind.
Nothing much gets past her She can always gear up faster
When she puts a charge on her power chair. She can always get around.
She keeps a private eye kit And she knows how to use it
As she drives around the block For clues to unlock.
Nana, nana, nana, nana, nana Nancy
She gets locked in rooms and knocked around And she asks some tough questions
She solves the cases that stump the police And she’s always so darned appealing
Timeless and beautiful, pure entertainment.
But Nancy Drew will never get old.
Nana, nana, nana, nana, nana Nancy
Nana, nana, nana, nana, nana Nancy.
Happy Birthday, nana Nancy Drew.
