Walkin' Down The Road
02:20
|

Walkin down the road
Walkin' down the road
Seems we never get much closer
Our destination is such a long long way
The sun is beatin' down
In the heat we're immersed
We never have a cool drink to quench our thirst
We never have a cool drink to quench our thirst
We never have a cool drink to quench our thirst
We know where we are going
We have our pride
It's a hot dusty road that we walk, side by side
Our clothes are clean
We walk round the clock
And we're walkin' where there's no sidewalks
And we're walkin' where there's no sidewalks
And we're walkin' where there's no sidewalks
But we're not complainin'
That's the way it is
We're all in the same situation
When everyone has
The same experience
No one has a better station
We share the same experience
Reshaping our nation
No one is better than another in this equation
We're all in the same boat, everyday
We're walking down the dusty road
We never get much closer
Our destination is a long long way
The sun is beatin' down
The long road is cursed
We never have a cool drink. to quench our thirst

The Day Their Luck Ran Out
SS Cornwallis was in Barbados
Just inside the torpedo net.
The ship was hauling lumber and wheat
From the Canadian government.
It was in early afternoon
When the first blast broke the silence.
And in minutes, five more torpedoes
Blew a hole in the side of Cornwallis.
Because she was in shallow water
She didn’t sink right away
Rescue efforts were made quickly
And Cornwallis was saved
After the torpedo attack,
She was patched and repaired
And Cornwallis was back in business
The crew thankful she was spared.
Chorus:
Cornwallis was a Canadian steamship
Manned by the Merchant Marine.
The brave crewmen transported all supplies
Along the eastern seaboard.
The Maritime Museum in Halifax
Reports both men and vessels lost
During enemy action in both world wars.
Then in late Nov. of ‘44
She was making the coastal passes
From Bridgetown north to Saint John
With a load of sugar and molasses.
She almost made it to Grand Manan
It was early in the morning
When a torpedo struck midships without warning.
The sailors sent out an SOS
It was received at Yarmouth, NS.
A single torpedo struck below the waterline
The crew of 48 had but 10 minutes to live
The lifeboats were caught in the ropes
And all but 6 were drowned.
Chorus:

Turtle Beach
Chorus: Swim, little turtle, make it to the sea
Figure it out, how to feed and stay free.
Surviving in the ocean, Is a monumental task.
Stay safe from harm
And follow nature’s path.
From the nest to the ocean,All alone.
You need to cross the sands
And make the sea your home.
Those who have the strength to make it on their own.
Must navigate the perils that soon will come.
CH:
Find your way to the best feeding grounds
Where you will thrive and grow swim all around.
Diving the reefs,
Find safe places to eat.
So one day, you will return home again.
To the beach you left many years ago
Come ashore, pick a spot to lay your eggs
Then return to sea for another go around
But stay safe on these dangerous grounds.
CH; SO Swim, big turtle, make it back to the sea
Figure it out, how to feed and stay free.
Navigating the ocean, Is a dangerous task.
Stay safe from harm
And follow nature’s path.
SO Swim, big turtle, make it back to the sea
We’ll help you if we can, so you feed and stay free.
Reducing plastics from the sea, Is the first thing we can do
To keep you safe from harm
So you can follow nature’s path.
We’ll help you let’s make a plan.

Silvery Sands

Silvery Sands
I saw them make their way to the beach that day
Full of life and loving with a sense of play.
They ran down to the waters edge, splashing as they reached
Their toes into the chilly water at the beach.
Chorus:
And they walked along the silvery sand, holding hands
The love that they shared made them feel so grand.
As they walked along the silvery sand.
It was summer when they found their way to promises made
They joined their lives forever in love
They made their vows, holding hands, and celebrating there
At the beach with the silvery sand.
Every year since then, I would find them there
As they walked together hand in hand
Laughing and playing, making memories
Along the beach with the silvery sand.
The years have passed
The family’s grown
Today I saw her, she was all alone.
Gazing out upon the setting sun
At the beach with the silvery sand.
And she walked along the silvery sand, still holding hands
The love that they shared still made her feel so grand.
As she walked along the silvery sand.

Mermaid's Tears
03:40
|

Mermaid’s Tears
Listen to the waves crashing all along the coast
Howling of the wind conjuring spirits and ghosts
The ships that are lost at sea, and meet their sorry end
Observed by the mermaid who mourns the loss of friends.
The lives of all those sailors who made the choice to go to sea
Maybe they were pirates who filled their pockets with stolen bounty
Or immigrants in their beds who never reached the promised land.
Their possessions lost to the depths of the sea, strewn across the sand.
The glass they once held, has been caressed by the ocean tides,
Now the broken edges are softened, and smoothed on all sides.
Maybe it was a bottle, giving courage at the end.
Or an ink well, with the letter never written to a friend
Can you see the eyes of those lost at sea, looking back at you
As you hold seaglass up to light, to admire its soft frosted hue?
Some say they are a mermaid’s tears, shed in her deep despair
Hopelessly watching the lost ones while they were drowning there.
Let the waves carry me where I belong to fulfill my destiny.
I want to be held gently, and appreciated for my beauty
Smoothed, not broken, by the sea tides that carry on
Healing and renewal, that is the sea glass song.
In the morning, in light of day the) beachcombers come out
To find the treasures brought in, by the currents and trade winds.
And the mermaid slips below the waves and slowly disappears
To guide new friends to safe harbours, shedding no more tears.

The Day That Elsa Came A’Calling
[Verse 1]
The day C that Elsa came a'calling
Was like no F other day I've F known
What she G brought to us was not calming
In fact, it F chilled us G to the bone.
We were C warned about her visit
We F prepared the best we could
But G who is ever fully prepared
When a F woman is so G misunder C stood?
[Chorus]
Dm The wind it did blow, and the Em thunder it did roll
And the F trees outside had no con G trol
Dm I lie in my bed, covers Em over my head
And the F roof flew off of my G little shed.
[Verse 2]
I could C hear the trees a'creaking
as they blew F sideways in the wind
And the G rattling noises as the roof gave way
And F let the daylight G in
I C stumbled out of my bed
Found some F clothes to keep me dry
Went G outside to examine
As I F waved my G roof good C bye
[Chorus]
Dm The wind it did blow, and the Em thunder it did roll
And the F trees outside had no con G trol
Dm The passage of Elsa was Em nearly complete
Seemed like for F ever, but only a G heartbeat
