Win's Scarf 02:19
My Everyday Dilemma - Win’s Scarf Well, what am I gonna do, with Win Barsby’s scarf? A lovely green print, in soft, soft wool, and sewn with a rolled hem edge. Her scarf fell out of her coat, as it hung in my closet, But that was the first Tuesday in March, Before we were self quarantined. She came to my place, with Almeda and Mary The four of us chatted for hours. We talked about holidays and our favorite pastime The design and creation of quilts. We had some bags of fabrics That we made a plan to sew We would get together, and cut all the pieces And then sew them together again. After awhile we had lunch I made some soup and biscuits to eat We drank our tea with a nice butter tart That I bought at the Butter Tart Shop. Well, what am I gonna do, with Win Barsby’s scarf? A lovely green print, in soft, soft wool, and sewn with a rolled hem edge. Her scarf fell out of her coat, as it hung in the closet, But that was the first Tuesday in March, Before we were self quarantined. I found it there, beside my rain boots A week after she was here I knew it was hers, and I messaged her then In order to return it to her. So now, her scarf is draped on the railing In my hallway beside the front door. Waiting for a time when we can get together And visit with our friends once more. Just waiting for the flip side of C.O. Vid 19, When we can visit with our friends once more.

Grounded 03:06
Grounded The grey days of November are rolling in all around With cold winds a blowing, and snow falling on the ground. Some of Mother Nature’s creatures are preparing for a rest To make it through the season, and survive winter’s test. But Snowbirds are eager to fly to a tropical paradise To experience adventures at a bargain price. To escape Canadian winters, they flock to exotic places To keep an active lifestyle, and all that it embraces. But, we’re grounded – yes grounded. We’re Grounded- yes grounded Just Like naughty teenagers caught smoking in the hall. We’re Grounded – yes grounded. We’re Grounded- yes grounded We are warned to stay at home to protect us all. Once a symbol of reward, the snowbirds made their way To a free and easy lifestyle the PRIZE for working days. Now travel is a luxury, we mark our carbon Footprint Once a symbol of success, now a hallmark of excess. Is this just revenge of Mother Nature On the global supply chains? Do we need to throw out nostalgia And return to olden days? Instead of basking on golden sands, Buy some cozy socks and pj’s Sit by the fire and learn to knit. And while away your days. But, we’re grounded – yes grounded. We’re Grounded- yes grounded Just Like naughty teenagers caught smoking in the hall. We’re Grounded – yes grounded. We’re Grounded- yes grounded We are warned to stay at home to protect us all.

Third Room on The Right A dusty car pulled into the lane It stopped suddenly by the front door The couple remained, just sitting there, Eyeing the porch with two rocking chairs. The man came 'round the side of the car He opened the door, and took her arm And carefully helped her get out Then they walked up to the front door. Chorus: Colleen and her James had never been there But she smiled and bent down to smell a rose Then what she said, "I'm glad it's not lillies Reminds me of funerals, I suppose." Climbing the stairs was a bit of puff They went to the third room on the right The window looked out on the garden Which was blooming with colours so bright. Colleen took her purse and made her way To the chair at the side of the yard Then she quickly pulled out a small bag And she puffed on a cigarette hard. She made many trips out to the yard Over the course of their weekend there Stopping to smell the flowers awhile Making her way to her smoking chair. She observed everything around Wrote something in her blue notebook Smiling to herself, as she wrote words Along with every puff that she took. Next day, a book was set by his cup He saw it there, and picked it up A smile crossed his face as he looked round And pulled a pen from his shirt pocket He signed his name in the space below The author of the book was found out As the couple enjoyed their breakfast And I, the hostess was smiling no doubt. After check out, in their room I found A paper on the bedside table I read the poem created for me. Giving thanks for the good time they had Written by the poet who smoked outside She was thankful for the solitude And the beauty of the flowers there And the quiet time, she was renewed. They were just nice people, savoring All the time they had left to enjoy Travelling paths that they never took Short memories for their notebook. James left Colleen shortly after this And Colleen lived another few years I hope they have roses where they rest I know she liked the scent of them best.

MS Marella 02:29
ms marella have you ever seen 160 million $, floating on the seas? v1 The MS Marella Celebration described by Wikipedia, was launched in nineteen eighty three out of Noordam, in the Netherlands and was registered in Sint Maarten She proudly sailed in the caribbean, C she could cruise the seven seas with her two big diesels churning at a speed of 18 -20 knots with her crew of five hundred persons and all passengers aboard, she was a beautiful site at any port have you ever seen 160 million $, floating on the seas? V2 the finest fittings and furnishings were bestowed on all nine decks, and the decor was a stunning vision there were art works in the lobby and in the dining rooms, that were said to be worth at least a cool million. v3 Sometimes were good and sometimes were bad she was sold and then resold two times and finally in twenty twenty sold one last time, retired from service to a breaking yard , somewhere off Greece. she had outlived her only purpose have you ever seen 160 million $, loating one last time? Breaking Up 02:45
Breaking Up Breaking up is hard to do Breaking up is hard to do Breaking up is so hard. Want to go on a sea cruise? Want to go on a sea cruise with me? We’ll cruise across the ocean together Just me and you. Let’s cruise on over to some fine beaches In India or Pakistan or Turkey There we’ll run aground up the beach At the cruise ship cemetery. It takes about 3 months and 50 workers To break a 40K ton cruise ship All the furniture and fittings are wholesaled And the metal cut into bars and sheets. Well, breaking up is hard to do Breaking up is hard to do Breaking up is so hard Hundreds of cruise ships no longer sailing Due to CO Vid 19. Cant find a port to wait it out While the world is quarantined. So cruise ships are going to breaking yards One by one they’re being stripped and abandoned It’s like a scene from a Mad Max movie There’s no decks left there to stand on. No more walks on the lido deck, No more buffet lunch by the pool. No more ocean view staterooms No more upper deck entertainment. No more hot tub on the promenade deck No more shuffleboard on the leeward side…..

My Field Trip I was in my chair, laying back Just thinkin’ ‘bout the day. The weather it was overcast And in my chair I’d stay. My husband cane and looked at me Said, “ What cha’ doin’ hon?” I replied, “Been sittin’ here, Just waiting for the sun.” I replied, “Been sittin’ here, Just waiting for the sun.” Well, after a while I felt real bad Decided to go out for a walk. Put on my coat and a warm fuzzy toque And I walked around the block. I stopped in my tracks and stared at the snow And the weather got much colder. A man came by, and said, ” You OK?” I said, “I’m just standin here getting older.” A man came by, and said,” You OK?” I said, “I’m just standin here getting older.” He walked away and I waited awhile And then made my way back home. Made a cup of tea, and sat in my chair And I wrote down this song. Just waiting for the day when we can come together And enjoy each other’s company But until that day, I must endure Just sitting here, getting older. But until that day, I must endure Just sitting here, getting older.

Time 03:04
Time I was reminded the other day that we'd been cooped up one year. Everything that I used to do was put on hold out of fear I haven't seen my grandchildren To hold them in my arms. Just a Zoom or two but what it lacks is the charm. I used to go to song circles to play some little tunes. To share my music and play along while others play theirs too I haven't been out to perform Or listen while others do. Just a Zoom or two but what it lacks is the charm . I used to go out quilting with some ladies around town We make quilts for our families there were lots to go around But now I quilt alone In my basement. I can only hope that we'll get back together again. Time, time my time is limited Everything that I used to do has been edited I cant travel to the places , I used to go. Because of the quarantine protocols. Just waiting for the vaccine roll out Yes, I’m just waiting for the vaccine roll out.
